Gross Description

The specimen is received in formalin labeled with the patient's name and consists of a 0.4 x 0.3 x 0.2 cm piece of pink-tan skin.

Microscopic Description

Sections show a symmetrical, well-circumscribed, compound melanocytic proliferation. Nests of melanocytes are present at the dermoepidermal junction and in the dermis. The cells are uniform with small, round nuclei and scant cytoplasm. There is no significant atypia or mitotic activity.
